The Region of Gjirokastër is one of the 12 regions of Albania. Its population is about 170.000 inhabitants and covers an area of about 3000 km². The Region consists of the municipalities of Dropull, Gjirokastër, Këlcyre, Libohove, Memaliaj, Permet and Tepelene. The Regional Council is the elected regional authority and is seated in the city of Gjirokastër.
